Combat in the Cockpit?
"I am a 46 year old pilot with Delta airlines, and I have been taking the PSU Combat series for over a year. I can now say without a doubt that Close Combat is better than carrying a gun on airline flights. Combat arts are all about close quarters fighting, quick and deadly disables, and confined time and space. I can say with confidence that if terrorists took over one of my flights, I could blind, kill and disable them in seconds, with or without box cutters! The kicks of karate, the throws of judo, the grappling of jiu jitsu, would simply not work WITHIN THE TIME OR SPACE of this kind of attack. What is sad is: an alley, a 7/11 aisle, a bank lobby, an ATM grotto-- in other words, REAL street fights, are also time and space constrained. This is why I believe that the PSU series is the only combat art suited for the real, and dangerous world of today. By the time I retire from the unfriendly skies, I'll be ready to teach full time..."
Black Belt prefers COMBAT
"I was an instructor at a leading dojo in Chicago, with a recognized 5th degree black belt in Karate, and extensive wrestling experience in high school and college. I was embarrased when I was mugged one evening by a large man on drugs, coming home from a class. He seemed to shrug off my attacks, or not even feel them, knocked me down, and even with my wrestling background, knocked me out and stole my wallet. I began taking PSU's COMBAT series after that attack. After only three months of studying real combat, my confidence soared 500%. When I was again attacked several years later, this time by two older teens 19 or 20, at an ATM machine, the combat techniques disabled my attackers in seconds, and I didn't even have to scuffle. I can't believe I've told students for over 20 years that martial arts are good self defense, when even the introductory PSU Combat courses are better than 10 years of serious Karate or Judo training!"
Combat an ideal rape defense
"I was raped on my way home from a party at my workplace in Boston. The police could do nothing, and my attacker was never caught. He was a thin but tall man, not very strong, but he slapped and kneed me, then pulled my legs out from under me and fell on top of me. I took four years of Karate in college as well as a women's self defense class at the Y, and they didn't help at all. One of the police officers told me about the PSU combat instructor courses, and I took the entire series, passed all the tests, and emailed questions for over three months to the teachers there. I even flew West and took a private seminar for a week combined with my vacation. The reason I am writing is that a young lawyer here tried to date rape me when I was only in the intermediate course. He was drunk but extremely violent. Because of my PSU training, I knocked him unconscious with very little force, and I never even had to use any ground techniques. I now know the difference between martial arts and real combat defense training, from personal experience. I'm using my certification to teach local women's classes, and plan to make this a full time career."
Gang bangers beware...
"I live in a really bad neighborhood in Central L.A. with both black and hispanic gang members everywhere. I am a 28 year old black man and am fairly small, so I've been mugged, robbed and beat up over 6 times, just because I don't look very tall or big, even though I have a black belt in Tang Soo Do. I've lifted weights, and trained extensively in jiu jitsu, judo, boxing and wrestling and even achieved my brown belt in Judo. None of my studies ever helped me on the street until I found PSU's combat series during an instructor seminar at our dojo. I even got one attacker in a perfect arm bar during a grapple to the ground and he knocked me out with his other fist. On another occasion, I broke an attacker's lower leg, but he and another gang member still got me down and stole my money. Since my PSU Combat Instructor training, I've successfully gotten out of four mugging attempts, including one gang attack by three men. I can't describe my gratitude or the new confidence I have, THANK you PSU, for helping me in the REAL WORLD! And thank you for encouraging disabled and handicapped people to attend our classes-- they are truly inspirational."
Police students love Combat!
"My name is Jim Stockton, and I'm a cop. The embarrasing thing about my story is that, even though I was a Marine and have extensive martial arts, police and military training, and was a golden gloves boxer in high school, I was being called "mace Stockton" in the department because so many suspects defeated me. I started using mace even during the simplest scuffles. I went for remedial training at the academy, and the instructor turned me on to PSU, where he was certified. Since taking the courses, I am no longer being beat up and overcome by suspects. I was spending too much time worrying about their "moves" from my previous training and not enough on my own tactics. PSU's Combat series should be required training for any police officer. I will bet that many officers who have shot or maced suspects wouldn't have had to if they'd even known the basics of Close Quarters Combat. This is sad but very true out there."
"Other martial arts are a waste of time when it comes to combat..."
"I feel like I wasted 7 years of my life. I studied taekwando for years, then earned my black belt in hapkido. Even though I thought I knew all the "secret and deadly" levels after spending over $3,000 on training, a mugger who was smaller than I am tackled me and knocked me out with a hammer fist before I even hit the ground. A friend of mine who is in the Navy became a PSU certified combat instructor after attending a special training institute and turned me on to the system. After a little less than two months studying PSU's courses, I quickly disabled two muggers who were hassling my wife for pocket change. I now believe that the martial arts are ok for a workout, but when it comes to real street situations, nothing comes close to real combat training!"
Handicapped students fear no longer with Combat
"I am one of the hundreds of disabled students who are Phoenix State University certifed Combat Instructors. I was attacked by two men while trying to leave the subway in my wheelchair. I injured the smaller man so badly that the bigger one broke off the attack and ran away. I screamed and was frightened at first, as no one was around, but when it came to the actual attack, the Combat techniques worked easier than when we practice them. I owe you guys my life, and wanted you to know that these techniques REALLY WORK even when you are more vulnerable than the average person! And if I can do it, my students truly believe they can too..."
Started for personal defense, decided to teach...
"When I received the foundation course I wondered "what is all this philosophy, mind-state and rules stuff? Then I began getting the course books, dvd's and practice videos, and it all fell together for me. I now want to complete all the courses, including Certified Combat Instructor, and teach Combat at my dojo. I have a third degree black belt in Karate and nothing I know comes close to the combat and street power of PSU's Marine, Blade, Lethalo and other Combat courses. I also think it will be a great business for my dojo and help my students in real situations far more than Karate."
IDEAL for elderly and handicapped
"I am a retired law officer and my wife is nearly blind. I am so appreciative of the personal attention the whole PSU family of instructors spends with the students. You are really caring people and put your students first. We are both over 80, and feel so much more confident after studying the courses, out on the streets, which seem to be getting more dangerous every day. Your system is ideal for older citizens and the handicapped/disabled."
On Blade Combat...
"I am a Police and Military Edged Weapons Instructor at a large E. Coast Police Academy and have both taught and trained at Quantico and nearly every other major weapons facility, here and abroad. Without question, the PSU blade combat instructor system is the most realistic in the world for street, police, military and other "real world" needs."
"I was beyond shocked at the police videos of SWAT officers taken out by a single edged weapons opponent. The course interviews in which officers did not even realize the thug had a knife brought home the idea of pre frontal shutdown in ways I'd never imagined, let alone experienced or taught in my dojo."
"I am the definition of a loser when it comes to guns, as I've lived in Canada, UK and now Australia! Talk about being a sheep-victim. Even knives over a couple inches are illegal here (in Sydney), but everyone carries them anyway, because you just can't get guns unless you're a serious criminal. All the US articles I read about how crime has quadrupled are correct, however none of them mention the explosion of knives here. When you become a sheep, you grab the next best thing. Your blade combat courses taught me that I'm the real wolf, and I'm now passing that on to my students!"
"I live in a Communist State (California) where nearly no citizen can carry a gun any longer. I was shocked at the new California laws, as taught in the PSU teach combat courses, that allow even large folders now. To pun intentionally, this book took some of the 'edge off' of the pain of not being allowed to carry, and even converted me to the 'knife is better than gun' school in many situations. I've added both blade combat and unarmed military combat to my jiu jitsu courses and am now attracting many more LE and military students."
"The 'this will get you killed' section of the course, including dumb things like unarmed combat against a knife, is worth the price of the whole PSU combat series. Out of 100 books and videos, this is the ONLY one that explicitly states that weaponless combat against a blade is idiotic. Most others actually "teach" it! This is the REAL WORLD combat stuff that gives you skill and confidence. I now fear no one and nothing, even when armed with a SMALL knife. And I am far more ethical when teaching my students about what does and does not work in real combat."
"There are many places I can't carry my gun, and until I enrolled in a PSU combat series course, I didn't realize how overdependent on my gun I'd become. The knowledge of stealth, access, overconfidence in guns, clothing impediments, early preparation, and other techniques in the PSU systems have renewed my confidence in MY ability, not my gun's..."
"When I read about Democrat's plans about guns, I knew there would be more and more places that I couldn't carry or even own a gun. The trends are clear, and when (not if) there is another terrorist attack, there will be more pressure from both parties to limit firearms. The PSU instructor courses gave me and my students many alternatives, for which I'm truly grateful, and am now even less bummed about losing our 2nd Amendment rights..."
"All your testimonials about the effectiveness of this growing field of study are true. However, you short change your value by not describing the GREAT business opportunity represented by TEACHING COMBAT. Dojos, government contractors, newly released service men and women, law enforcement, military... ALL are crying out for real combat instruction, and there are so very few really qualified instructors out there! PSU's certified, accredited program is the most eclectic and reality based system out there, period. Your grads are teaching some of the most elite students in the world, and I'm proud to be one of your graduate instructors."
